About Me

My passion and goal for this business is to encourage people. For me, discouraged and beaten down people is not how the world should be and I can't walk past it. Through Industry of Happiness I want to bring together my love for colour and encouraging people and create products that can fill people's lives with joy and help them encourage others.

I worked for 8 years as a professionally trained florist where I grew my skills in colour, texture, balance, form and shape. Sewing from a young age I am self taught in sewing my own clothes and in quilting. It was through making quilts for my parents 70th birthdays and not finding a fabric that would suit them that I started to design.

Managing a florist and homewares store opened my eyes to mass consumerism and the ethics of production. Leaving me unsettled and unsatisfied with the retail/consumer culture, I have since pursued ethical fashion and owned a business importing Fair Trade and ethical accessories and ran a Fair Trade and handmade market in North Queensland as well as being part of the Queensland Fair Trade Collective and helping to organise some of their markets.

Through my Industry of Happiness website I want to sell plastic free products such as gift cards, posters, t-shirts and sweatshirts/jumpers as well as fabric. The big dream would be the opportunity to sell print on demand fabric through my website and I look forward to finding a way to do that in the future.
